NTLDR is the bootloader for Microsoft systems.
I suggest you 'search' for the item.

Harry.

For whatever reason the master boot record did not get properly written to
the hard drive or you do not have the hard drive listed in your BIOS as
either the first disc for the BIOS to look for or the second after a CD
drive.
The master boot record may be fine but the motherboard does not know where
to look for it.
First check your BIOS settings.
If that does not work:
If you are lucky you can boot with the Vista install disc and choose to let
Vista repair startup problems.
Rarely this actually works.
Otherwise you have to boot with the install disc to a command prompt and
follow instructions to use command line orders and switches. Make sure to
use the /ALL switch if you have more than one hard drive and again make sure
in the BIOS that the hard drive with the OS is the startup drive.
Or you can simply choose to reinstall the OS and see if that fixes it.

That contains a logical assumption and may very well be the solution, but
not necessarily.

I know this may seem like a stupid question.
(And I'm not trying to insult you. just want to make sure.)

If you had an IDE
and are going to a SATA
Do you have a SATA Connection on the Motherboard?

?

This is *not* a stupid question.

Well I didn't want to insult the poster :(
Russ

OTOH, everyone, even intelligent folks like you and me, makes stupid
mistakes on occasion, so it's not really an insult.

At least, I'm not usually insulted (or so I claim) when someone points one
of mine out to me :-)

Hopefully she does and with a bit of luck we'll get to know.
