NTLDR in Vista?

I thought NTLDR was removed from Vista, but today I got the crappy "NTLDR is
corrupt or missing. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del..."

I assume this is a result of me dual-booting with XP, but I formatted the XP
drive a few days ago after deciding to use Vista RC1 exclusively.

I tried to boot from the Vista disc and use the "repair" option, but even
analyzing for "startup problems" came up blank. With the Vista CD inserted,
however, booting from the drive works fine. Weird.

Any idea how I can resolve this issue? Thanks!

Hey Teddy-

NTLDR is gone from Vista, so that could just be your BIOS telling you that
it can't find a bootloader (which it is calling NTLDR because that is what it
has been for the longest time). I recently ran into a similar scenario where
I formatted the XP partition on my first drive, and ran into the same
problem. I actually had to run teh Startup Repair tool from the Vista
install DVD twice as it only fixes 1 problem per reboot, and it may be that
it has to do a couple of different problems it has to fix. I have yet to see
a startup problem that the SRT could not fix, although as I mentioned you
occasionally have to run it 2 or 3 times. Good luck!

Thanks... I'll run it a few more times, but it's not like it found several
problems... it found none at all. But we'll see.

You know, I've ran that thing a half-dozen times, and it NEVER finds a
problem. I guess I'll have to fix the NTLDR problem some other way - any
suggestions? I'm getting tired of hunting down my Vista disc every time i
want to restart... :)
