That did not work.
After upgrading my PC from Windows 2000 to XP PRO my D:
drive is not accessible with ANY User. When I go to
Computer managment I can not ever format the drive.
I get the Access denied error. I do see the size, used
space and free space. But I can not access the whole drive
or any of the folders.

If the drive from which you are trying to see or access the NTFS D drive is
fat32 as opposed to NTFS, it won't see the D drive.

If the drive is in use for any reason and/or contains any system, it cannot
be formatted from within Windows. You would need to format from setup as
follows:
Boot with the XP CD in the drive. When you see the message on the boot
screen to "Press any key in order to boot from the CD," do so.

After loading drivers and files, you should be taken to a screen with
the following:

To Setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To Repair a Windows XP Installation using Recovery Console press R.
To Quit setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

In your case, press ENTER.

Agree to the License agreement by pressing F8.

You will then be taken to a screen with two options.

To repair the selected Windows XP installation press R.
To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing,
press ESC.
