ntfs makes SKN DSK start delaying boot

Hi, I have XP home.sp2 on a dell and every time I try to boot up, skn
dsk starts saying there is a dirty volume on NTFS and needs to scan.
It starts normally after this scan and a re-boot, but the whole
process takes over 15 minutes. Frustrating. I am thinking of moving
near to the library to use their machines as it's got to be
quicker.Please help? Max

Start>Run>chkdsk /R
to check also the free space.
