Hi,

A W2K Pro SP4 system does not recognize a Maxtor 20GB non-
bootable drive's 8GB partition on which I saved data
before. I removed the drive from the system (then it was
W2K SP3) and stored in a non-static bag for a few months.

Norton Disk Doctor from SystemWorks Professional 2003
could not help (claims that it cannot find DOS parition).
The parition is displayed as Healty(Active) in the Disk
Management, but when I am trying to Explore it, the
system pops-up the message
"The system cannot find the device specified."

Any ideas what to do next to retrieve the files from the
drive?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi, Stephane - and Alex.

R-Studio might help. You can download it (for about $80 USD) from
www.r-tt.com. No, I have no connection with the company except as a happy
user. I used R-Studio last month to recover files from a 25 GB NTFS volume
on which chkdsk would no longer run. This was after failed attempts by demo
or "lite" versions of other utilities, such as Acronis and Ontrack (or
VCom).
