Does anyone know of a way to fix NTFS corruption on a
volume when W2K will not start when the volume in
installed on the system? Error is stop 0x00000050,
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and indicating NTFS.SYS. I
have tried both Safe Mode and Recovery Console but the
stop comes before the system comes up.

Thanks for any assistance.

To whomever is reading this post:

I am replying to my own question on the newsgroup because
I think others might be interested in the resolution.

The solution was in a program called NTFSCHK which will
allow running CHKDSK in a DOS environment. This program
is available as freeware from www.sysinternals.com. The
corruption in NTFS was corrected and system will not come
up properly.

Editorial: THANKS so very much to the folks at
sysinternals - SHAME on Microsoft for creating a file
system that can fail so drastically without providing any
way to fix it!
