Hi to all,

I have a Single Forest single Domain with a 1 root domain controller
and 3 additional domain controllers all are 2003 server SP1. the root
DC and 2 other DC belong to a one Network segment but different
locations and the 4th Domain Controller
is in other segment connected via WAN,

In AD sites and services on the domain I can see the root domain server
and all 3 dc's but under the NTDS settings of every Server , one
object is missing. This also happen in all other DC only two NTDS
setting object can see in every Server

on DC01 NTDS setting objects are DC02 and DC03, DC04 is missing
on DC02 NTDS setting objects are DC01 and DC04, DC03 is missing
on DC03 NTDS setting objects are DC02 and DC04, DC01 is missing
on DC04 NTDS setting objects are DC02 and DC01, DC03 is missing

So as you can noitice in every DC , one object is missing

How this happen?

How can I get the domain server sites corrected?

Anyone can asiist em on my issue?

Thanks
Teddy

You don't need all dc's to see one another for replication as a matter of
fact you don't want them all communicating with one another. Imagine having
100's of servers and all having constant communication with one another,
what a bandwidth drain that would be as well as connection issue. This is
correct and the KCC is monitoring the on going activity to keep things
talking properly. When you see your dc's these are connection objects
between the dc's.

Do you mean NTDS Settings objects or connection objects?

If you mean connection objects, I recommend buying the book in the
signature and reading about how replication works.

Paul is correct. If in doubt, run DCDiag on each DC and make
sure they are all fully replicated. (No errors, no warninds in
output -- easiest to send the output to a text file where you can
search.)

Also, Joe mentions a good book.

I would recommend Joe's book. He is a very intelligent dude!

Hey Joe question. I noticed on your website back in April you sound a bit
stressed and were sounding to be backing down. Was this just a bad day or
are you starting to step away?

I was a little more facetious than normal in that post but man did it
seem like a good idea when I was writing it.... :)
