I'm running a RIS server and DHCP server on seperate
machines. I have a client PC on the other side of a router.
When I PXE boot it finds the DHCP server and prompts for
F12. It makes it to "Setup is inspecting your computer's
hardware configuration...." and then fails with "NTDETECT
failed"
Any ideas?
Carlton.

Your ntdetect.com file may be corrupt

Its worth checking out your network drivers RIS uses the drivers
during different part of the setup process.

Johan,
I know that the ntdetect file is fine since the RIS client
works fine on the local subnet. It only fails when I'm
going through the router.

Johan,
According to MS you should not have option 60 running if
the DHCP and RIS server are on seperate machines. I
already have option 66 and 67 turned on.

Ntdetect failed

Carlton,

Did you solve your problem related to NTDETECT failed? Because i have the same problem here.

Tip: You can use startrom.n12 instead of startrom.com to avoid pressing F12. Just put startrom.n12 in the 067 boot file image in DHCP instead of startrom.com

Hope hear from you soon.

Regards,

Ahmed
