NTBACKUP - How do I update existing backup set?

Hello group,

I am using native Windows 2000 Backup version 5.0 to archive to 4mm
DDS2 drive. I back up a particular local folder, in which files never
change, only new are added to it from time to time (MP3 music.) The
backup process itself works very well. The type is incremental, so it
only picks up files added to that local folder since last backup.
Working as expected and like a charm.
However, whenever I run backup again to 'incrementally add' new files
to the tape, it creates a new backup set. This is unwanted as I would
like it to only update the very first backup set which is already on
tape. If I run backup 99 times, there will be 99 backup sets. I would
like to avoid that. :(

Is this feasible with NTBACKUP or do I need a *real* solution like TSM?

It is in the nature of ntbackup that it always creates a new
backup set. As a work-around you could use ntbackup
to run two steps:
Step 1: Create a disk-based backup set
Step 2: Backup this set to tape.
