Hi Folks,
I'm at wits end and hoping for some help with a Dell PowerVault 110T DLT VS80e
that will no longer complete a backup run.
Using NTBackup with verify selected, the Backup phase appears to run smoothly,
but the Verify phase stalls near the end of the first file. Same thing happens
with a test Restore to a different folder.
The error msg in the NTBackup log is:
Error: The device reported an error on a request to read data from media.
Error reported: Hardware failure.
The error msg in the System event log is:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: adpu160m
Event Category: None
Event ID: 9
Date: 12/10/2004
Time: 1:30:45 PM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER1
Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\adpu160m1, did not respond within the timeout period.
Data:
0000: 0f 00 10 00 01 00 6a 00 ......j.
0008: 00 00 00 00 09 00 04 c0 .......À
0010: 01 01 00 50 00 00 00 00 ...P....
0018: 0f 11 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0028: 00 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 ........
0030: 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 ........
I have run the cleaning cartridge a couple of times but gotten no change. I have
swapped in different tape cartridges but gotten no change. Dell's tape drive
test utility thinks the drive is fine.
The drive is on an Adaptec 29160 Ultra160 scsi card on a Dell PowerEdge 2650.
Anybody have any thoughts on how I can troubleshoot this?
Thanks.
Frank
