NT4 to Windows 2000

I have an old NT 4 network that has 2 servers that are a PDC and BDC. The
domain also has a couple of 2000 servers on it. I would like to upgrade the
2000 server so that it is using Active Directory, with the same domain name.
When I try to install the Active directory, I get the message "The Domain
'myDomain' is not an Active Directory domain, or an Active Directory domain
controller for the domain could not be contacted."

Is there a way to convert the domain to an active directory?

Either upgrade your PDC to Win2000, or install a new BDC, promote it to PDC
and then upgrade to Win2000. Also, see this MS Knowledge Base article:
