NT4 to AD Question

Hello:

If I would like to perform the NT4 to AD in-place upgrade, does any
place that I need to pay attention?

Estimate Steps:
1.) Setup a New NT4 server to join the existing NT4 Domain as BDC.
2.) Promote the New NT4 server as PDC.
3.) Place the Windows 2003 CD on PDC & perform the upgrade.

Suppose I have 1 PDC & 4 DBC in the NT4 domain.
Does all the NT4 domain need to set the DNS as the AD Root server's ip?

If the Windows 2003 DC is the DNS server, then yes. And it almost has to
be since AD cannot use an NT DNS server.

Thanks for your information. Due to many NT4 server in the domain, I
can't change all the server's DNS in a short period. Is it possible
didn't change the DNS because I still will keep the BDC?

Actually DNS really doesn't help NT BDCs..do u have WINS in your environment?

AD definitely needs a capable DNS. It doesn't HAVE to be a 2000/2003 DNS
but it definitely *CAN'T* be an NT4 DNS. It could be BIND or something
like that, but it would be easiest if it is a 2000/2004 DNS, so it would
be easiest if it were on the 2003 DC.
