I can't get the client to register it's A record in DNS. I
have dynamic update enable. I try the manual way with the
ipconfig /registerdns no luck. I have no error message
from the client or Server.
HELP!

Make sure the Primary DNS Suffix on the client is spelled the same as the
zone name. Make also sure that the client is only using the internal DNS
server in it's IP properties (no ISPs). That rule must apply to all machines
in an AD domain (DC's and clients). This is for W2k and newer clients. NT4,
WinME and Win9x do not apply here.

Not sure what you're asking here. Are you asking how do you create the zone
name in DNS? If so, create it as local.domain, then allow dynamic updates
(set it to at least YES). No, do not use a trailing dot, but rather
"local.domain", in the format. Then make sure your client and DC's Primary
DNS Suffix is spelled exactly as this name and make sure their DNS settings
in IP properties are only using this DNS server.
