Hello,
Currently, we've got an NT4 DNS server acting as a Primary nameserver
(also caching forwarders to our ISP) for our internal namespace.

I now have a Win2K DNS server acting as a Secondary nameserver (also
caching forwarders to our ISP) for our internal namespace and zone
transfers have been working.

Now, I want to make my Win2K DNS server the primary nameserver for my
internal namespace.

Question: Can I make my NT4 DNS server a secondary? If so, how?

I haven't been able to find a way to do this.

Thank you in advance,
Craig B.

Hi Craig,

Yes, you can change the DNS directly.

On the Windows 2000.

1. Open the DNS in the Administrative Tools
2. Right click your zone name and select Properties
3. Click the Change in the General tab and select "Standard primary"
4. Click OK

On the Windows NT4

1. Open the DNS in the Administrative Tools
2. Right click your zone name and select Properties
3. Select Secondary in the General tab and click Yes to confirm the change
4. Input the IP address of your Windows 2000 DNS server which we just
changed to the Primary
5. Click OK
