We have 6 domains and are working on a plan for consolidating these 6
domains down to one.

In our Domain structure, Domain 1 is the largest. All other 5 domains
have two way trusts with Domain 1, but not between each other.

We are planning on upgrading Domain 1 to Windows 2003 Active Directory
and then migrating the other 5 domains to Domain 1.

Our first phase of our plans calls for Domain 1 to be upgraded, and are
planning that this weekend.

The question is, what is the best way to deal with the trusts?

1 - leave them in place and do the upgrade
2 - do the upgrade, remove them and re-establish them
3 - remove them prior to the upgrade, do the upgrade, and then
re-establish them?

Thanks
Greg

All of my testing and preliminary results of a production upgrade indicate
that you should leave your trusts to legacy domains in place. They should be
fully operational after the upgrade of the "central" domain.

We did this a couple weeks ago and all is well. The next steps for us are
removing NT4 BDCs, shifting AD to native mode (AKA Windows 2003 mode), and
using ADMT to consolidate our other legacy domains.
