I have the following situation:

Remote Desktop Client (5.2.3790.0) ~~~ Several Other XP Clients ~~~
Windows NT Service Pack 6 |
| |
| |
V |
SMC Firewall (SMC7004ABR) |
| |
|------------------------------------------------/
|
V
Linksys BEFSX41
|
|
V
Windows XP Professional

This configuration has been up and working for more than a year.
Recently, I logged onto the XP system and started an update of the
firmware on the Linksys box. During the update my connection was
broken, probably by the router resetting as part of the firmware
update.

After the update I tried to use the remote desktop client to log back
into the XP system. The client seems to find the system without
problem and the client starts to load the login / authentication
window and then freezes with part of the upper half of the window
painted.

Several others have been able to use the remote desktop client to
connect to the XP system from both sides of the firewall since the
firmware update. I have also uninstalled and upgraded my copy of the
client to no avail.

Any help in getting my system back up and running would be greatly
appreciated as I am several hours from the XP systems and need to
access it for my work.
