NT On-Access Service

I get the following error message when I boot up: "NT On-
Access Service has encountered a problem and needs to
shut down..."

Can anyone tell me what "NT On-Access Service" is and how
I can disable it (or whether I should) so it doesn't
crash on boot up?

When I run the Network Setup wizard wizard I get an error message "Cannot Complete the Network Setup Wizard" an error occured during configuration of the network on this computer.

I am attempting to network Windows Xp Home to a 98 machine. I am running McAfee Personal Firewall + & Virus scan on the Xp machine. McAfee firewall and Norton Antivirus 2004 on the '98 machine?

Both machines can access the internet through a Linksys router & cable modem, but do not show up in My Network Places

Thanks,
Scott

I get this same message when I try and open or copy or
move a .exe file on a network. I don't get it with any
other types of files on the network, or with .exe that are
NOT on the network. Have you had any responses yet about
what the service is?
thanks
Cathi
