While setting up some user accounts on an XP Pro workgroup
workstation I noticed that XP automatically added two
users to the user group- "NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE"
AND "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users".

What are the these users for? A search of the MS knowledge
based turned up zilch.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one wondering about that, Myrt.
Although, in my case, I was in the middle of chasing a quickly
spreading trojan (I think it was a JS Exception Exploit as part of, or
in conjunction with, a TR-CLASSLoader.byte verify derivative....nasty
little sucker that I'm still chasing (yeah, I can talk-the-talk, but
not.... :)

Were you having any problems with your sys? I'm curious now, because
my NT Authority and ANONYMOUS USER s "just happened to show up" at
the same time as I was having active stuff going wrong with .COM and
internet systems and programs. Geez, now I have to wonder if I got all
paranoid and spent hours deleting them or changing their "access"
values on numerous services...when, in fact, these are just the
'puter's way of logging a normal event chain.....
yep, that would suuuuuure be funny, wouldn't it?
I hope someone more knowledgable than we, sign on and teach us rookies
a little sumpum 'bout these here 'puter gadgets! :)
zed
(yup, that would suuuuure be funny....)
