I am having a problem with my computer and I believe that it may be something
with Windows XP. My computer was having problems and my fiancé did a complete
wipe of my hard drive and started over from scratch. He reinstalled Windows
XP Home Edition and everything and it works fine except when I try to connect
to the Internet. I have a Dell computer and when I orig bought the computer
it had Windows 98 on it. Then I got a virus somehow and instead of getting
it fixed we had Windows XP installed by a friend. I've used the Windows XP
operating system for the last three years with no problems, but ever since we
did a complete wipe out of the hard drive we are having problems. I have the
Windows XP disc and product key, but when I called Microsoft they told me
that cause the code had OEM in it that meant that I needed to contact the
manufacturer cause that is the disc that came with the computer. I advised
them this was incorrect and that it orig came with Windows 98 and we had
Windows XP installed at a later date. They told me that I could go thru
Microsoft but it would cost me $35.00 or more. I cannot afford this and
began to search the web to see what I could find out. I came across this
site and was hoping that you could help me. I get this pop up error message
that says it is from NT/Authority/System. It says it is Error 691 and there
is a status code 1073741819 and it says C:windows/system32/lsass.exe. It
gives me the error box and then it tells me in 50 seconds the pc will be shut
down. It counts down and when it gets to zero the computer restarts again.
Can you please review this and email me back with some possible suggestions
on how I can fix this so that I can get access again to the internet. Like I
said earlier, the computer works fine until I try and connect to the
internet. Thanks for your help.
