I reformatted our computer and have nothing but
problems. We network 3 puters, have for a few years
now. I had a real hard time re-networking after the
format and now we are getting RPC shut-down errors?? An
error box comes up stating that NT/Authority is shutting
us down. First time I've ever seen this and we can't
even get through the windows updates without this coming
up and shutting us down. Any ideas???

thanks

I highly doubt it, we have Mcafee running all the time
and wouldn't a reformat erase it?? Even not, Mcafee
should have caught it, did a full scan before I formatted
as well. Ant other ideas? I will double check that
though.

Go to the web site I suggested and read the description. And no, Norton
wouldn't necessarily catch a worm, which is different than a virus.

Sandy there is no doubt that you have the Blaster virus. You will need to
disconnect from the network and rebuild the machines. You may find that
msconfig, regedit, TaskManager have been disabled. This is a signature for
one of the version of Blaster.

Creates usable copies of REGEDIT, MSCONFIG and Task Manger

Will provide a help if you have this issue.

Additional to the comments made by Chris H., I'd suggest you turn on the XP
firewall. I agree with Chris ... I do believe you are infected with the
Blaster worm.

I would suggest you check the following link and download the Blasterfix
tool.

I did more virus checking on all the puters, came up
nada, checked for msblast in task master and in search,
nada. I finally redid all the networking using the XP
disk and things seem great so far but I've kept all the
info you've given me just in case the computer is fooling
me...I swear they have a program built in for that,
Thanks for all your help.
