Can nayone suggest a good resource to learn about how to use
nslookup.
I am in no wnay condifdant that my DNS environment is etup correctly
and would like to run my configuratio by an expert and start to learn
how to use some of the support tools for troubleshooting
thanks
Here's some help on nslookup:
200525 - Using NSlookup.exe:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=200525
Chapter 6 - Windows 2000 DNS Troubleshooting Flowchart - [part of it shows
how to use NSLOOKUP] and slow DNS resolution resolve:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...indows2000serv/reskit/tcpip/part2/tcpch06.asp
As for running it by an expert, is this an AD installation? What exactly are
you not sure of with your config?
If this is an AD installation, would you like to post some info such as:
1. an ipconfig /all of two of your DCs and one of a client,
2. The AD DNS name
3. The spelling of the zone name in DNS and if allowed updates
4. nslookup
ls -t srv yourdomainname.com
That will help us get a good snapshot of your config and can help us to help
you out for starters.
