Small problem. I have a win2k DNS server setup really to
do only some internal resolving for a Sun machine. The
internal ip scheme is 192.168. When I go to another
windows machine that has only the internal DNS box in
it's DNS entry and do a nslookup for the Sun box it says
it cant find the server name for address 192.168.1.81
(which is the ip of the dns box)

Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.1.81

Name: sun1.mydomain.com
Address: 192.18.1.46

I have the right entry in the DNS server for the Sun box
and when the nslookup completes it does actually tell you
the ip address. BUT, on a Sun box if it doesn't know the
name of the server it pukes and doesn't work right.

thanks

This means you do not have a PTR record for this IP address. nslookup and
DNS should still work after this message. You can ignore it or create the
PTR record.
