NSLookup Question

I'm having this weird problem with DNS and NSlookup. On my workstation, in
the tcp/ip configuration of the nic I have specified and DNS suffix for this
connection. but when I try to do an NSlookup, it doesn't work so I changed
the setting to append from the list instead and now it works.

Anybody would know why it doesn't work when I set it to append the
connection specific suffix?

Thanks.

What does you System control panel say for the name
of the machine (full name including the DNS)?

BTW, that is where you fix this stuff primarily anyway.

The machine does not have a primary DNS for the computer name. If I put it
in, it does work. but isn't it supposed to use the connection specific name
if no primary is specified?

Perhaps but do it the right way -- fill in the computer
name correctly.

Use the added suffixes for OTHER names in your
environment (if you must.)
