When trying to do an nslookup to my DNS server from
another server on my network. I can never get it to reply
unless I put the whole statement for
example...home.mycompany.com. I should be able to just
type in home and the machine should automatically add the
mycompany.com suffix, unless I specify to append dns
suffix, which I am not it is blank. I shouldn't have to
add the append the dns suffix should I? By default it
should just add mycompany.com to the end of whatever I am
querying if my domain is mycompany.com. Am I missing
something. This is happening on all my WIN2K servers when
I try to nslookup a host. Please help.

Thanks
Marc

This computer has no Primary or Connection DNS suffix, without a primary DNS
suffix there is no suffix to append. If you give this machine a Primary DNS
suffix it will add it to the DNS suffix search.
This is a member, correct?
If it is you can give this machine a primary DNS suffix by right clicking on
My computer on the desktop. Select the Network Identification tab, click on
the "Change" button, then IIRC the "more" button.
That will give this machine a Primary DNS suffix and by default this suffix
is appended to all queries.
