Tim and kevin:

Thanks for your efforts! The nslookup finally reconized
the dns server. However, I still cannot join the domain
(receive the domain name cannot be found error).

I can ping the DC and do ipconfig /all, release, renew.
The DC can see the client. Any hint?

Thanks!

What do you mean by "The DC can see any client"?
Are you refering to network neighborhood?
Network niegborhood has nothing to do with DNS or whether clients can join
your domain. Nethood is a NetBIOS application and does not use DNS all you
need for Nethood to work is NetBIOS which can be used over TCP/IP or
Netbeui.

I would be happy to help you but I need to verify the information I asked
for such as an ipconfig /all from both the server and a client, I also need
the actual domain name from ADUC to further diagnose your problem.
