NSLOOKUP Issue

Hi Guys/Gals,

Could anyone throw any light on this one ??????

Primary server running W2K, have configured DNS with forwarders to ISP's DNS
addresses - everything seems to work fine for browsing and internal look-ups
from clients and server. Domain is set-up as a mixed mode domain as there
is an old NT4 PDC still hanging on in there.

Trouble is that when I went to use nslookup, the first thing that came up
after hitting enter was
"Can't find server name for 192.0.0.2: Non-existent domain
Default server : localhost
127.0.0.1"

Yet when i type in the server name whilst in nslookup, it returns with
servername.domainname.co.uk - which is correct - so why the initial error.

Crazy DSN .

Cheers
Mark G.

This is not really an error at all and can be safely ignored. It happens
because you do not have a reverse lookup zone configured.
If you look at what the error says, it is trying to resolve an IP address of
192.0.0.2 to a name, this is a reverse lookup. A normal forward lookup
resolves a name to an IP address.
