NSLOOKUP doesn't show A records

How come when I perform an NSLOOKUP against a zone, I never get a complete
list of A records? Same thing using a utility such as sam spade - no A
records. I can get MXs, NSs, etc., but no As.

You have to use the ls command to get a complete list of the records. The
type all or any will return the SOA, NS and MX records.
The ls command is a zone transfer, if the machine you are running the
command on is not in the allow zone transfers list you will get query
refused.
