Hello, I am having a problem ALWAYS seeing the computers on my local Lan.
My situation is as follows:
I have Cable modem (LINKSYS BEFSR41 Mod2) connected to the router in the
"WAN" slot and then all the P/C’s connected in the "A" - "D" slots. If I
unhook the cable modem, I can see all my P/C’s, hook back the internet, and
I can not see my P/C’s. I have mixture of XP and windows (1 XP and 2
Win98- where as now all my p/c’s are XP).
I recall that I had to set all the workstations up on the same workgroup.
I installed, I believe "Client For Microsoft Networks" and "File and Print
Sharing For Microsoft Networks" (at least I had to do this on 98 machines,
but It seem to be there automatically for XP) and then I then I had to set
properties on each drive and or folder that I wanted to enable file
sharing.
So why does my visibility disappear when I connect the modem to the router?
What can I do to enable all my P/C's to share the internet connection,
while at the same time share files on the LAN?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
