how is it that Vista Ultimate RTM scores my processor a 5.3 (Intel Core 2
Duo E6600 2.4GHz) and Vista Business RTM gives my laptop processor a 6.0
(Intel Pentium M 1.7Ghz)?

Hmmm...not got a clue. But I can confirm that I get the same score of 5.3
with my E6600 in Ultimate! And I get 4.0 (in Ultimate) for my AMD Turion
ML-37.

Part of me wonders whether the performance score is different across the
versions. But that would be ridiculous...wouldn't it?

I know of no posting from Microsoft that states that the performance
indicator is an absolute indication of the state of your computer.

I look at is as being a gimmick.

yeah i had considered that the different versions might give different
scores, but it does indeed sound silly if thats the case! i also didnt
mention that my ultimate is 64bit and the business is 32... interesting also
is that when i was running 32bit ultimate i got a 5.4 instead of the 5.3

You need a vacation pal.

The score depends on more than just the processor speed. Why not compare
the xml files and see how it breaks down between the two machines. They're
in \windows\performance\winsat\datastore

It's because you hacked it, or you are lying, or there is some error.

Nobody has reported scoring more than 5.9 on anything, even on extreme
overclocking forums. Higher scores are only available later, with Windows
Updates, as hardware develops.

Hello Troy McClure,

Very simple solution (previously self-learned) just read the Method that
Vista provides the end result Score; known as, "What do these numbers mean?"
i.e. "What is rated" and "Subscore" and "Basescore".

Keep in mind that Gator is no longer spyware to Microsoft and, in fact, to
many others who they made financial arrangements with. It does happen that
consumers get sold out for the benefit of business partners.

That said, I definitely need a vacation and I was only teasing about buying
the score. :)

Just a SWAG... maybe metrics are different between the different versions...
I have no clue, though...

What's that supposed to mean? There is nothing wrong with my teeth - quite
the contrary.

Maybe we should switch focus on your blatant lies about such sad things,
like what hardware you can afford, and how it bothers me so much?
