Hi,

From a Win2k-Serv AD domain controller I can get Group
Policy to run for a user, but not a computer.

In the server's Users And Computers I create a folder named
Lockdown. In Lockdown's properties I edit the group policy.
Then I move either a user or a computer into Lockdown. The
policies are applied for users, but not computers.

Any help would be appreciated. Client is WinXP-Pro (for
testing since that's all I have, but in the field clients
will be Win2k-Pro)

Thank you,
TSMcPh

The policies have two main sections, "Machine Configuration" and "User
Configuration".

Policy changes made in the user config section do not effect any computers.
Likewise, changes made to the machine config do not apply users.

Well that's a bother. Thanks for the info, though. I'm
glad to finally know what was happening.

Looks like I'll have to administer GPs from the clients
instead of the server, since what I want to do is prevent
all users on specific machines from changing the desktop
and certain IE settings.

Thanks again,
TSMcPh
