Novell 5.x and Groupwise to Windows 2003 and Exchange

We just acquired a company that is a Novell Netware 5.x shop with Groupwise
Mail system.

I am NOT familiar with Netware 5.X or Groupwise so I just want to get some
BASICS out of the way - with your assistance =)

Questions to you all:

(1) Novell 5.X is a Directory Server housing user accounts right?

(2) Groupwise is the mail system - is the user account is that mail system
separate from the Novell 5.x system - basically is Netware users separate
from Groupwise users - how are the two systems usually syncd?

Going to Exchange 2003 and Windows 2003 - on a HIGH-LEVEL sample step, what
would I have to do? Justa primer would be great on this please, because I
can not begin to read or even understand the systems (Novell) without some
samples or high-level understanding.

(1) Novell 5.X is a Directory Server housing user accounts right?

Novell Netware 5.x is a FILE SERVER operating system, much like
Windows Server 2000 or 2003.

Novell NDS (Novell Directory Service) or in "new-speak" - eDirectory -
is the directory service ON TOP of Novell Netware (much like AD on top
of Win Server 2000/2003). It will contain and manage the user accounts
for your Novell Netware servers.
Going to Exchange 2003 and Windows 2003 - on a HIGH-LEVEL sample step, what

Basically, you will need to migrate your user accounts and security
groups from Novell NDS / eDirectory to Active Directory (either
manually, by scripting, or by usign a tool such as Microsoft's
MSDSS/MSFMU or Quest NDS Migrator). That will move all your users,
their properties (like first name, last name, phone number etc.), and
it should also allow you to move their files and permissions on those
files from the Novell Netware file server to the MS Windows file
server.

Not 100% sure on the Groupwise-to-Exchange thing, though - basically
same thing, you will need to migrate the user mail accounts from
Groupwise to Exchange - can't say how in detail, however, and don't
know if there are any tools helping you do this, either.
