Notify user if XP machine already in use

If I login to a local PC and someone is using it remotely, the remote user
is disconnected w/o option to close or save work (same if remote logs in
when computer in use locally). Is there a setting to prevent this from
happening or to notify local or remote users that the machine is already
in
use?

When the remote user starts to logon, at least in my experience, it actually
tells them "If you continue, xyxyxy will be logged out.."
