Is there a feature in Outlook that can tell me if my
outgoing message has been received, read, or deleted by
the receipient? Other mail servers have it...

Go to the Help file and look for "read receipt" and "delivery receipt"
to find out how to enable these in your version of Outlook.

Sorry 'bout that -- try the word "tracking" instead. I got a hit on
that one in Outlook 2002 and I think they used the same terminology in
Outlook 2000.

First, you must be running in corporate mode.

In Outlook, go to Tools/Options/Preferences/Email
Options/tracking Options.

Hope this helps.

Aha...therein lies a possible reason you were not finding those keywords
in your help file: This is not an Outlook Express newsgroup. :-)
Outlook does not have a version 5, so it must be Outlook Express you're
using. I see someone else replied to you with an answer so I hope that
helped you with this issue. For future reference:

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97/98/2000/2002/2003(beta) from
the Office suite of products. Outlook Express is actually a separate
program despite the similar name. For help with your OE questions, try
an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress (for OE 5), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, you can find the Outlook
Express 5 group mentioned above under Internet Technologies, then
Internet Explorer 5.0 (just click the Outlook Express link). Good luck!

Thanks again,
I am just switching to MS Outlook!! (can I copy my address
book from OE to MS Outlook?), so I did try the tracking
and set it up - now, the only time it actually shows me
that an email has been received is if I request a response
from the receipient?

OK, gotcha. Take a look at the following Microsoft KnowledgeBase
article for help on setting up Outlook 2000 for delivery and read
receipts:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=192929

As for the address book, if it's already loaded in OE, just use File |
Export | Address Book in OE to export it to a Comma-Separated Values
(CSV) file, then use File | Import and Export | Import from another
program or file to import the CSV file into Outlook.
