I'm back to square one. I thought I had fixed the problem I was having with
the notification area. The only icon loading in that area, once again, is
Norton AntiVirus. I have about four others that should be there...and were
for awhile...thanks to some help for a couple of on-line help sites.
However, I'm back to where I was. No sound icon, no icon for safer removal
of devices connected to my notebook, etc. etc. I can create the icons in
the notification area after boot up...but that's a real pain and is getting
old. But...I'm tired of trying to fix it. Maybe it's time for a Mac
Computer.

Hi there,

This happens for most Auto-Logon users. Three
methods/workarounds: Log off and Log back on, password
protect your account or disable SSDP and uPNP Services.

Automated Edit:

Disable SSDP and uPNP Services (Line 156)

If still no joy, then repair/Customize Quick Launch,
Taskbar and Notification Area, download from here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm

Launch this utility after download, under Notification
Area Drop down menu, choose show missing icons and click
Apply button.

HTH, Good luck!
