Lately I've been running a small tabbed notes program, for certain
purposes, which I like primarily due to the gentle simplicity of its
looks/interface. Its name, in the incarnation I have, is NoteThat97.

Yesterday I did a google to see if there had been any later releases.
What I have is ver 2.0, 1997 March. I had no luck. There was an unrelated
set of hits, something like "Notethat! Editor 98." Yet nothing for later
releases of this program.

Nor even any sign of what became of its authors.

Help|About
..."Flashlight Software has been founded by Christian Braun and
Lukas Meier in December 1996. We make together freeware programs
for Windows95/NT."

Most likely, conclusion is what it appears. This '97 ver is the last
they made. Yet I figured if there were any hoped luck otherwise, then
it would be someone in this group who'd know, as there are those here
highly skilled in digging out rare software from the most remote corners.

If any good news on this ? would be grateful.

They both appear to be from/in Germany, however I wasn't able to pin
down anything definitive on either one of them. Christian Braun
appears to be the programmer while Lukas Meier seems to be more into
presentational stuff, HTML programming and the like.

Thanks for that info. My own web searches currently are very difficult,
as I'm at a motel w/ a mean scrooge of a PBX phone system. Highest speed,
at the best pinnacles, approx 15kbps. Web servers often ignore my pleas for
bytes or abruptly end our comm with a kick off their premises.

# Following the hype of OpenSource (Linux, Netscape Communicator 5.0)
we decided to offer the source code of NoteThat97 on the net.

# Because we have really not enough time at the moment to continue
improving NoteThat97 there won't be any updates in the near future...but
be prepared: There's a C++ port already working :-) "

As far as i Know NoteThat97 v2.0 is the last version.

NoteThat! Editor 98 is a diferent program, not related.

As for a replacement why not try Keynote

Thank you much. I appreciate the definitive information, that they ended the
project.

Keynote is outstanding, yes, but quite different. I was liking NoteThat97
foremost for the looks and simplicity of its interface, and second, that by
the nature of its design, opposite of Keynote, it was suited only for small
and basically transient notes, not a full information repository. There are
times where it is the former that I prefer.

Btw, I'm one of those who can never have enough notes & text programs. Each
one has its slightly different character and features, and my PC is happiest
with a full, well-populated family of them (weetad like an old Victorian
populated by 100 different cats). But back off the tangent though: thank you
again for getting me the answer to NoteThat97.
