Hi,

How do I add a superscript note to a number cell (e.g. "1"
or an asterix)if I still want to be able to use the cell
for calculations purposes?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Stephen!

This isn't possible.

But you can add comments to cells which should serve the same purpose.

Hi Stephen
you have asked this question several times now :-)

Excel unfortunately does not support footnotes like MS Word does. If
comments are not an option you can only try the following:
- manual add an asterix or something else to your value. Note: You
can't use Excel formulas directly for these cells after this.
- you have to write your own user defined functions to calculate with
these cells

So sorry that there's no better answer for this (IMHO)

Someone told me I could use CTRL and then 0185, but this
still won't allow me to use the cell for calculatoins
purposes....

You can change the cell's number format, to add the superscript 1 :

Select the cell
Choose Format>Cells
Select the Number tab
Select the Custom category
Clear the text box, and type a zero, then hold the Alt key
and on the number keypad, type 0185
Click OK

Stephen

Custom Format of 0"*" will show 1234*

Custom Format of 0 and ALT + 0185 will show 1234 plus a Superscript 1
