Notes / Stickies Gadget - Recovering lost info ?

I've lost the info on my side bar's notes.

Anyone know how to retrieve it ?

There must be a file somewhere with the data...

All advice greatly welcomed
 
seems i'm scuppered then, i might be looking for another more suitable
"notes" gadget

From my understanding, sidebar gadgets are written to perform temporary
desktop functions and as a general rule don't store data like an application
such as Notepad or Word.
