Notes Sections of Outlook

For Outlook 2002, 2003, click Tools>Options>Mail Format>Fonts and change the
value of the "When composing and reading plain text" font. It controls all
of the notes panes.
 
Modifying as you suggested did not change the font/size in the notes section
of a Task. Prior to changing I did note that the font/size orignally in this
setting was not what was displaying in this field/pane. Is there something
elese I need to do?

Oops. Wrong box. It's the "When composing a new message" font that
controls the notes panes on items.
