Notes not re-installing from pst file

Every so often, I reformat my hard drive to correct problems. I save the
Outlook pst file to DVD. When I am ready to re-install the file back to the
hard drive from DVD, I import the pst file back to the hard drive. I have
recently noticed that my notes were not included. I had a huge set of notes
dating back atleast two years. All my Tasks re-installed and reappeared OK.
What could have happened?

From the DVD I created, I copy the pst file onto the desktop. I right click
onit choose properties, then uncheck the read only box. Next, I open
Outlook. Click File menu, Impor, Import from another file or program, Next,
click Personal Folder File, Next, browse to the File to Import, etc. My
Outlook file reimports to exactly the same as it was before I reformatted my
hard drive.

What do you mean you import the file to your hard drive?
Do you actually mean you imported the file into Outlook?
That will lose data every time.
Here's how you migrate data:

Never import a PST file. You will lose data.
Use the method I posted.
