Notes in Word 2007

Adobe Acrobat has the feature allowing the addition of 'sticky notes' to PDF
documents. Is there a similar feature in Word 2007 and if so would it be
seen if sent to prior versions of Office. Guidance sought
 
In Word 2007, you can insert comments into Word documents. On the Review
tab, click New Comment. By default, comments display in so-called balloons
in the right margin.

Comments are backward compatible, but balloons are not supported in versions
older than Word 2002.
