when i get emails with attachments that have been
forwarded when i click on the clip it opens and all i get
is gooblydook, how do i open them

you need the application with which they were created. Otherwise, save the
attachments and then try opening with Wordpad.
 
Look at the extension of the attachment and then go to
www.filext.com and find that extension. It will tell you
what program is used to open it and even provides links to
obtain the application. Have fun.
