Notepad won't print, any more

For some reason, Notepad won't access the printer, any more. I click
on PRINT and nothing happens. Nothing.

It used to work. And I use it now and then for quick things I get
off the net that I'd like to print -- like a recipe, or something.
Because Notepad stopped working, I've had to wait for a big word
processor to load and do its thing. . .

Any ideas about how to get Notepad's print function working again?

It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death.
I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything
and let the problem take care of itself.

Try copying notepad.exe from another installation or re-extracting it from
the i386 folder.

In the meantime, Wordpad is a lot lighter-weight than a full word processor.

Open Control Panel - Printers and look over the list of the installed
printers. Which printer is configured as the default printer (it
will have a small checkmark added to the upper right corner of the
icon)?

Double click on the icon for the default printer to open the printer
queue for that printer. Do you see your Notepad jobs lined up to be
printed?

If the default printer is not the one you want Notepad to use then
select the correct printer, right-click on it, and choose "Set as
default printer".

Good luck

Thanks!

I found the problem was different than I thought. What I mentioned
as "notepad" was another smallish Windows program called something
else.

When I click on its icon, Windows couldn't find it! ? !

So, I went and found Notepad, put a shortcut on my desktop, and it
prints fine.

Wish everything was so simple!
