Hi

I just installed a replacement notepad editor called editpad lite which has
turned into a bit of a nightmare.

I uninstalled the software but now when I double click on a .txt file the
file prints instead of opening in notepad. If I right click on a .txt file
the first option at the top of the pop up menu is now "print" instead of
"open".

Can anyone help me un put this back to normal.

Thanks

Pete

If you are using XP, System Resore to before you installed editpad lite.

In windows explorer, go to Tools menu -> Folder options. Choose file types
tab. Scroll down to TXT entry and select it. Press the advanced button and
in the next window, you will see a list of actions. Either select 'open' and
press "Set Default" button, or if open isn't there, then press the new
button and enter:
Action: open
Application used to perform action: C:\WINDOWS\system32\NOTEPAD.EXE %1
Use DDE: Tick this
Application: NOTEPAD
Topic: System

Then make open the default. Press OK, PressOK, then try double clicking.

If this doesn't work, just right click on a TXT file and choose "Open
With..." select notepad from the list and tick, "always use this
application".

Thanks GT it worked a treat.

Posted in alt.comp.HARDWARE.

There is some *hardware* in which Notepad is embedded?

GT already gave one answer. Can't you just right-click on the .txt
file, select to Open With (you may have to hold down the Shift key with
opening the context menu), browse to notepad.exe, and enable the
checkbox to always use that program for that filetype?
