Notepad replacement with Macros

I'm looking for a notepad replacement which has macro functions. I've
found two, Crimson Edit and Note Tab Free, but both require installation
and Crimson Edit writes to the registry. I would prefer something that
doesn't need to be installed, because I'd like to put it on my USB Memory
Key and use it to write e-mails and paste it into a e-mail client or into
web mail.

Thanks in advance,

You're right that Crimson does registry, but how come not go with
NoteTab Light? Run the installer; copy NoteTab directory to your
USB key; then uninstall.

Ah, I'm a bit leery when I see you have to run a setup executable. I feel
(like some others) that if it doesn't need to be installed why create a
setup executable, or why not at least supply a zip file for people who
don't want a exe file.

Anyway, I'll give it a try, and if it works as you suggest I'll be happy.

As always,

Btw, I've just downloaded ntfree.zip from Fookes' site. The installer used
is Inno. In one quick click, InnoUnp did the extraction. Notetab subfolders
and all. So instead of requiring all the hassle of the install-uninstall
business, the prog was instantly set to go. http://innounp.sourceforge.net/

For people who don't know how to use the explorer? For those don't know how
to launch software that does not have a link on their startmenu, nor know
how to make their own shortcuts. Nor how to delete a directory at uninstall
time. Evidently those are advanced skills.

Agree. I can't see justification for not making a self-extracting zip,
-especially- in the case of green/standalone programs like this.

It'll work. :)
