Hello,
I know this is meant for Windows XP program users but I haven't been
able to find anything about "Notepad" and thought I would ask here.
The problem I'm having isn't huge it's just that for some reason each time I
open Notepad it doesn't expand all the way as it did when I first started
using it. Now when I open it, it opens to small rectangle on the right side
of my screen and I have to maximize it each time. At first it wasn't so bad
but when I have several simple text documents to look at it comes a pain to
expand each one to it's maximum size.
As I said, when I first started using Notepad this didn't happen and I have
no idea how I did it or how to fix it.

On an added note, I asked in the public.word.newusers newsgroup and was told
to ask in a Windows newsgroup and was given this advice, **However, you can
modify the start parameters to open Maximized. Right-click on the Notepad
Icon and select Properties. One of the option boxes will probably say Start
in Normal Window: just select Maximize and Apply.**

I did try this and the Notepad program still opens to a small rectangle at
the corner of my screen

I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks

Maximize is setting the window to max screen size. There is nothing the
program (Windows) can do to remember that settings since, well, it is
the full size what whatever is the then current desktop size. You need
to resize the window to whatever size you want (not maximize but
something smaller) and then close the application. When you open it,
Windows will know what was the window size when you closed it last time
and use that size (unless the application specifies otherwise).

You could read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813711/en-us and do the
registry edits. Or you could download TweakUI and use it to set the
number of customizations to remember (I set mine to 8000).

Thank you so much, this fixed the problem. I just opened the window to a
bigger size then closed it. It works great. Thank you again.
