Is there a way to prin to notepad. I have tried generic printer to file and
then had to open it from there with notepad. Can notepad be added as a port?

Thanks

No. Notepad is an application, not a piece of hardware.

No. Notepad is only a text container.

If your document contains editable text then you can copy & paste it
into Notepad.

If your document contains text embedded in images then you generally
need an OCR program to extract the text first.

That I understand. I have seen other software print to the Microsoft
Notedpad, I just thought there might be a tweek somewhere.

It will be a simple text output from a another peice of software. The
software can print to any hard printer, and evn has print to notepad
feature.(this doesnt work all the time) thats why i was thinking of my
originall question..

Add Notepad to your Sendto folder.

Then right click a file | Send To | Notepad

Start | Run | Type: sendto | Click OK |
Right click in the right hand pane | New | Shortcut |
%SystemRoot%\system32\notepad.exe for Target |
Change the name to Notepad | Click Finish | Close
Sendto

I have fun sending word docs to Notepad.

.... a man easily pleased, it would appear.. :-) .. I might just try it
myself, but would like to be aware of the point where fun enters the
scenario just so that I don't miss anything..

I have tried that option as well and it does work. I am thinking about having
the text file pop-up to my screen when i select print. Kinda setting notepad
as my default printer(i realize its for text only).~sigh~

thanks for all the feed back.

With sending Word docs to Notepad you can see why the docs are so bloated.
