Thanks for anything

Notepad.exe should be in your Windows folder. There were some viruses that
used common names to fool you into thinking they were correct, so the
anti-virus may have deleted the bogus file. Have you done a search to see
if Notepad.exe was renamed to something with a different extension.

You might check the Symantec site to see it that particular virus is
mentioned. It appears there are several. See what the articles say about
it.

Do a search in your Windows directory for notepad.exe as there are usually
several copies.
Then copy it here Windows\system32\notepad.exe

Assuming you are talking about a notepad icon on the desktop, Go to
Start>All Programs>Accessories and see if Notepad is in the list of
Accessories. If it is, right click on Notepad. Select send to Desktop.

If Notepad is missing from the list of Accessories, then go to Start>Run and
type in the Open box:
"sfc /scannow" (no quotes and a space before '/').

I had the virus thing happen with notepad. There should be a copy
in the windows folder and in the system32 folder. The one I had a
shortcut to was deleted by the antivirus software.
