I have a old notebook computer from Toshiba, model 1640CDT, I made a 40GB
disk upgrade and memory. I have Windows XP and NTFS file system.

When I turn on the computer I get a error message that says that SAVE TO
DISK FEATURE IS NOT INSTALLED, RUN PHDISK. I have this utility in the
notebook's support CD, but it is a old version for Windows 98 with FAT16.

Where can I get the PHDISK for Windows XP with NTFS file system ?

I changed in BIOS the power settings TO SAVE TO RAM, but didn't solve the
problem.

Thanks in advance

Phdisk

Utility used with portable computers to save information being utilized to a
hard disk hibernation partition if the computer runs out of power. Phdisk
allowed users to turn off their computer to switch batteries or connect the
portable to the wall without loosing the work currently being worked on.
Today files are being used in place of the hibernation partition because of
various issues caused by the partition.

Now laptops use hdprep or hdprepez to form a suspend to disk partition.
I'm not sure, but believe hdprepez is run after formatting the disk, and
before installing the OS. When hdprep is not run, you will get an error
message on boot. "Suspend to disk partition not found, run hdprepez".

Other than the error message, I had no problem with the lack of suspend
feature.
