I'm also having challenges with a webcam installation. I wrote an E-mail to the manufacturer, but www.hival.com has no webcams listed. But I have one, with their CD, etc. Sending within their site sends me to an error page

At least the green ready light worked for a while. I could see only a small green screen with the WDM. I think their VFW did show myself at times. Without any instructions I can decipher, I don't even know what those programs are for. Another, CyberLink seemed more likely for my intention: live video via IM such as Yahoo! Once I got a response from them somehow. But it was an attachment. I've no idea what to do with it. I tried to save it but no real progress

Most recently, I ran my Compaq 6016US wizard within it Windows XP system and even without rebooting, the green ready light on the cam is working again -- although it said it did not install the drivers. It uses a USB interface. Only by running Explorerer did I accidentally find the CD-Key code to install even though they didn't tell me that. Why so secretive???

Links to manuals.
