not sure if michrophone is working

when on msn or aol instant messenger.
i can not connect or get it to work, i am doing all
that is asked. do i need to do somthing on my pc to get
it to work... new to this, i can follow if i have it in
laymens turms ty for any help.......lew

Check your volume control panel and see if your mic. is
muted.
